Birth Photography is growing in popularity and for so many marvelous reasons, it’s genuinely inspiring to witness. For generations people have ached to tell their stories, to be heard, and to be seen. We have yearned to celebrate and to honor ourselves, families, and experiences. We shift and grow in ways that are indescribable, we transform into new versions of ourselves with each pregnancy and we’ve finally gotten to a point where it’s acceptable to talk about, we are now able to continue processing and healing from the emotional side of birth.
I have a feeling you’re here because you’re on the edge, taking one final breath before diving in. You want to see what you’re getting into, you want to see a reflection of yourself as you splash in. You can sense the universe stirring within, unsure of how your birth will unfold, however one thing is undeniable- YOU MATTER, YOUR BIRTH MATTERS.
My promise to you is multifaceted, just like you and your family. When I arrive at your birth space I will fill the air with warmth and encouragement, I’ll speak with a tone of tenderness and commitment. I will be devoted to documenting your birth story as it unfolds, details both big and small. Granting you the opportunity to lay your eyes on some of your most monumental moments, frozen in time for you and your babies to admire eternally.
Over the last year you’ve read up on all of the current recommendations (for ALL THE THINGS!), you’ve put the effort into learning coping techniques to use in labor, you and your partner have stacked your birth team with care providers who are truly supportive of you and your birth plan. It’s getting closer and closer to your due date and all of the pet or child care logistics are finalized. After wondering for weeks if every symptom is the onset of labor, you KNOW this is the real deal. Contractions get closer and stronger, you notify your birth team, and your labor unfolds the way it will. You dig deep inside and find the strength and power to birth your baby.
Exhaustion and the cocktail of hormones flooding your body has clouded your memory, you have no idea how certain events in your labor took place. What time did the midwife get to your house? What hospital room were you in? While thinking back more and more questions are popping up, your partner can fill in some of it but they were so busy loving and supporting you that they’ve lost some of those details too!
That’s where I come in! I want you to see how your partner and birth team supported you during every stage of labor. I want you to witness the look on your face when you get to see your baby for the first time. That first skin to skin session, cutting the umbilical cord, and when the “I CAN’T BELIEVE I DID THAT!” sinks in. These are the moments that can never be recreated, even in subsequent births because every single birth is unique.
